Why does my heart melt completely away when I see a baby boy? Everett David had my heart in a puddle with his scrunchy little face, his new, new belly button, and his chubby rolls. He’s perfect in every way.

I’m sure that Allison and Mark 100% agree and feel the trickle of their melting hearts with every snuggle, every yawn, and every soft touch.

Welcome to the world, Everett David! You are loved!

Cassie is someone whose friendship is short but deep. We’ve shared similar struggles with our health and we’ve watched our families grow. We’ve worked together and we’ve hired one another for our special talents and services. Cassie is an extremely unique person and I am honored to know her. So, it is with great pleasure  that I get to re-tell the story of her son, Jasper Wolfgang Leonidas, and the day he was baptized.

It all begins with Cassie’s instagram post… a short little way to tell the beginning of the story….

And, Cassie and Matt DID pull it off. At the very last minute. At 11:00 am the very morning Jasper was to be baptized, they finally found the perfect someone to perform the ceremony.

On Saturday, May 18th, on the St. Charles Riverfront during Lewis & Clark Heritage Days, Cassie got someone to baptize Jasper the same way that she was baptized 34 years ago. And, as promised, she and her husband Matt weren’t wearing Colonial garb but they were surrounded by those who were in the town that Cassie holds so dear. And along with the sounds of the firing canons and the bagpipes, the ceremony had a mix of the old and the new: Godparents, Aunt Sara and Uncle Tom were witness to this special occasion via speakerphone. Also in attendance were Cassie’s parents, (pictured above. starting this wonderful event with the baptism of Cassie on the St. Charles Riverfront), and big brother Griffin, (who confided in me that he likes Jasper “sometimes”). 🙂

The ceremony was simple, sweet, and perfect. Matt read a few passages of scripture, the grandparents proudly participated, the Godparents bore witness and held on the best they could over their cell phones, and the minister was just as honored to be there as the rest of us.

She prepared the baptismal with pure water but also with Holy water from the Jordan river… and through the ceremony of pouring it, she sprinkled Griffin,  which covered the rest of us in giggles.

Cassie looked more beautiful than ever: so serene and motherly as she held her sweet baby and grasped her big boy’s hand. Griffin was invited to hold the baptism candle and to promise to tell Jasper one day about this special event.

And Jasper welcomed the baptism.

….And, when it was all finished,  Jasper smiled a sleepy grin while droplets of holy water trickled down his face.
