Scars of hard times never leave.
Sometimes they fade but are always present. But the joy that comes after sorrow reminds us that God’s has a plan and purpose for our hurt.
We may not always know His plan or purpose but knowing that He has one is sometimes just enough to endure what He brings us through.
This family has experienced pain and they’ve had joy.
Right now, in this moment, it’s time for their joy.
And that joy has a name:
Savannah Elizabeth.

Share the blessing of new life as you witness this wonderful birth story.
A new baby, mom and dad, super proud siblings, and lots of love.

I am in love with this family! Liam’s got eyes and curls to die for and Heather is has the most sugary sweet personality I’ve ever had the pleasure of being around. Nathan is a model father. He was ready to chase Liam any and everywhere his curious feet would take him. I am so excited to be part of their Birthstory in a few short months.

Liam is about to turn two. I’m not gonna say that they’re “the terrible twos” because that’s just not true. Not at all. BUT I will say it’s very rare you can catch a kiddo at this age ready and willing to get his picture taken. I will also say that this is probably the hardest age to photograph. The personality of an 18 month – 2 1/2 year old does not lend to sitting still, posing, stoping, or listening for more than a few seconds.
But, if you can roll with it and chase them and play with ’em. You can get a cute shot or two. ๐
Mission accomplished.

This new baby is a ‘Rainbow Baby’. The bright spot after the tumultuous storm of a loss.
As Heather and Nathan near the day that they get to meet her, the memory of their other baby never fades. However, the presence of this new little one reminds them that there is usually calm after the storm, laughter after loss, peace and healing, and happiness ahead.

Congratulations, sweet family! I’m looking forward to seeing your next chapter unfold.
Wow, like you said, those eyes and those curls! So sweet!
Gorgeous job Donna!
What a gorgeous family! Lovely location too. These are beautifully done, Donna!
Beautiful and sweet images!
What a beautiful family, and congratulations on their newest addition! Fantastic work, Donna ๐
Todd and Annemarie are so blessed. I can’t wait for them to see these photos of their wonderful family!

Usually, I do my best to tell you just how wonderful the people are that I get to photograph.
Over time, I’ve learned that the best way I do that is with the photos.
I feel confident that my images tell exactly what I’m looking to say.
But I also LOVED the way Annemarie introduced her family to me. So, today, I’m going to share with you some her words as well…

“Julia is our creative genius. She’s one of the funniest people we know – in fact, we keep a log of things she says: we refer to them as Julia-isms. She loves to draw, color, sing and dance…and for the latter, attends a couple of classes at Denoyer each week. Poms and Jazz this year!”

“Jake is our little braniac. He’s a smart cookie who picks up on things fast…so you better watch what you say around him. He’ll be using it in the right context and in the right way in minutes. ๐ He’s into gaming, but he also loves to read and play outside with his neighborhood friends. His sport is baseball, so this is the off-season for him, though we’re thinking we’ll do cross country next year.”

Todd was described to me as a ‘charmer’ and Annemarie as a self-proclaimed ‘workaholic’ who loves her job. But all I saw on this day was “Mom and Dad”. A GREAT mom and dad.
The really neat thing is, I could see a great mom and dad by just looking at the kiddos.
If I never met Todd and Annemarie, and I only got the great foturne of spending time with their kids this day, I would have walked away knowing all these facts:
This family loves each other. They invest in each other. They laugh together. They build each other up. They value one another.
In the small amount of time I spent with them their love was very evident and I hope that is reflected in the images I’ve captured for them.

Thank you, Greene Family, for letting me capture just how wonderful you really are!

Donna, these photos are particularly wonderful – beautiful, and capturing the spirit of the family so well! Where were these photos taken? Washington University? I’m always very jealous of the outdoor locations you use, but this location is gorgeous, too. The first shot almost looks like it was taken at an old French palace. Such great work!
I haven’t seen this sweet fam since Evelynn was a newborn. I can’t believe how time flies! And, speaking of unbelievable, we’ve had some gorgeous weather for DECEMBER! 70 degrees? I feel like I’m living in Cali or something! (I wish!) So, because of this, we changed our session plans last minute and headed outdoors. Why not?
Kris and Christina, it was wonderful spending time with you and sweet E! Enjoy!

love*love*love everything about everything in this post. ๐ as a fellow cubbies fan, i have a particular fondness for dad’s shirt in the hospital pictures. ๐
a huge congrats to savannah’s family and wonderful images and video donna!
Ahhhh! She is just gorgeous. Beautiful work!
