Now it’s gonna be different… NOW it’s gonna be different!
the house is made of… different paint
everyone worked on it
it is someone…
it’s not Grandma Judy
they were not in Hawaii
it was Grammie and PaPa’s house – they were in Hawaii!

My cutie singing about the love and service he witnessed…as he was supposed to be napping. (sorry about the shaking, I was cracking up.)

What are you made up of?

Photobucket

What makes you passionate?

Photobucket

Is it helping others? Without any regard for yourself?

Photobucket

Do you have to justify your help, actions, or time?

Photobucket

In this case, these people did not.

Here is my husband….

Photobucket

He really is one of the most helpful, service-oriented people around. If you need help, he’s willing, ready, able.

BUT not only that, he’s one of the most giving people around. If you need him to devote his time, energy, and talents. There he is.

He had this fantastic idea to surprise his parents with a makeover to their home. This was no small task. It wasn’t just a couple of cans of paint… it was an overhaul to their house. Several repair projects, several cosmetic upgrades and lots of cleaning and maintanience.

Photobucket

But I can’t explain it as well as his Mom can. Check out her Facebook Status.

Photobucket

Like she said, Friends and Family from all over came to help with this “Extreme Makeover” type of project. Their selfless hearts were ready and willing.

Photobucket

…And the payoff was big.

Photobucket

Sorry…   I have so many photos of Mom.  Sure, Dad was happy and surprised too.
But Mom’s face, well, you can just tell how surprised and overwhelmed she was with what she came home to.
It was quite entertaining!

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

But if you really want to get the full experience, watch the video.

So, as I write, I think, “How do I explain ‘Why’?”

Why would children do this for their parents? Why would friends volunteer their time, talents, food, and service? What was the cause?

Are they poor? Sick? Helpless?

No, not a bit.

It’s hard to show and explain why because just as awesome as Mom and Dad are…. and however worthy they are of this wonderful gift….The folks who stepped up to help are just as deserving.

It was love.

Photobucket

That’s all. …and that’s it.  Love.

Photobucket

No other objective.  No big overwhelming reason.  Just because.

To show God’s love is the awesome reward of being in His Grace.

I STILL have a hard time understanding it. It’s hard to justify any actions without giving it a purpose that ultimately feeds my own selfish desires.

THAT’S the ipitomy of God’s love. I can’t understand it. If I were God I could’t justify loving someone without “just” cause. But it’s there. And He loves us. He loves me. He loves those who are sick, he loves those who are healthy. He loves the rich and the poor.

We can’t measure our worth in Christ. So don’t try to do it. Just accept His love in whatever fashion it may come to you.

Nice. Nice. Nice.
Those are the three main words that came to my mind when thinking about Kevin and Teresa’s wedding day.

The bride was nice.
The groom was nice.
Their families were nice.
Everyone we encountered that day was… well, you get it now.
🙂

It’s fun to peek in on the bride and groom immediately after the ceremony. You never know what kind of moments you’ll capture.

We headed down to New Town to take photos and all the homeowners were so accomodating – or I guess you could say NICE! They were so willing to let us use their homes as wonderful backdrops for this fall wedding.

Dad was too cute. Part of his speech was preparing Kevin for married life…
Kevin is saying, “What Teresa wants, Teresa gets.” into the microphone.

That’s Right!!!

Kevin and Teresa and family, thank you for having me! Your day was fab.

I wish you lots of laughter, happiness…

    Your pictures are absolutely beautiful.
Love the picture of Teresa looking at Kevin on the altar.
    True Love!!!ReplyCancel

I’m not gonna check my stats but I believe that these folks are the MVP’s of my blog. Aside from my own family, they’ve probably appeared on here the most! (Can you tell by my vocabulary that the Cardinals Game is on in our house??) 🙂
This is all because my friend (and owner of the salon where I work) Suzie, has trusted me to photograph her, her family, and even some of my co-workers.

But I’ve never had the priviledge to photograph her ENTIRE family.

Photobucket

Mom, Dad, Kids, and Grandkids. Beautiful family, huh?

When I think of Suzie, I think of love. She genuinely loves any person that she encounters in her life. We’ve got a special bond as we both share similar experiences of loss within our family. Both of our brothers passed away at a young age and in a similar manner. She’s been a significant part of my life. She’s been a shoulder to cry on and a person to grieve with. She’s helped me find a way to healing from loss.

Photobucket

It felt just as important to me to photograph this family as it did to her. Like Suzie, I know that time is fleeting and we never know when we as a family can all be together at once. On this day, while I was photographing, I was leading with my heart.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Recognize this beautiful girl? Of course you’ve seen her with her sisters, and for her senior photos, but most recently she was the cute mommy-to-be this past summer.

Photobucket

What a special thing to have sisters. Everytime I see them together, I get a teensy bit jealous that I was the only girl. I can’t even imagine that kind of friendship between siblings.
Photobucket

And this little guy! I can’t get enough of him. There’s really something special about him. I know it wasn’t too long ago he was waiting on his cousins to be born. Now that they’re here they can cause all sorts of fun and trouble that I look forward to hearing about.
Photobucket

The kiddos above are just the baby grandkids – or “Baby Grands” as I like to call them… let’s not forget about some of the “Bigger Grands” who already cause a good amount of fun and trouble. 🙂

Photobucket

Thank you Kutchback Family! You have a special place in my heart.

It’s been a few years and this family comes to me each and every time they want family photos. I am a lucky girl to say the least. There are literally hundreds of options nowadays for capturing your family photos and they continue to choose me!

Photobucket

It’s only been a year, but the last time I saw these sweet things they seemed so little! Especially little Kendall …who I photographed when she was only 5 days old!
Photobucket

ALL kids should have a photo of their grandparents.   All Grandparents should have a photo with their grandkids!

So good to see you all again! It’s was fun to catch up!

The day Maggie was born, I texted her momma…

Me: “I’m on my way to the hospital. When you get settled in, let me know what room you’re in.”

Mel: “Roger”

Me: “10-4”

Mel: “LOL!”

Funny, yes, because we think we’re truckers.

But also because the date was October 4th …Maggie’s Birth Day.

Photobucket

Melissa is my photog friend. She is one of the most genuine people that I know. You don’t have to wonder where she is coming from. She says what she means …but she’s never mean. She’s artistic, talented, sweet, and beautiful. I mean, the girl looks just JUST like Melissa Joan Hart. I’ve never said that to her in person because I know she must hear it a ton. But you do, Melissa, and it’s a compliment. 🙂

Photobucket

Scott is a hat guy. But usually not this kind of hat. 🙂 He and Melissa got a kick out of his “delivery room outfit”.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

These next few photos are some of my favorite birth images ever. They tell the story of those quiet, expectant moments just before your life is changed by a new little person that you’ve never met but love with all of your heart.

Photobucket

Melissa being escorted to the O.R.

Photobucket

While Scott practices with the camera. He was nervous, I’m sure. He’s not the photographer in the family, Melissa is. But it’s important to capture your baby girl’s arrival and you’ve got to be ready.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I wasn’t allowed in the delivery room for this C-Section birth because of hospital policy. I was super bummed at first because I didn’t want the opportunity for photos to be passed by. But later, I got to see some of the pictures that Scott captured and he did a great job! …maybe someday you can see them too if you follow Melissa on her blog.

Photobucket

Maggie Rose made no small entrance into this world. As soon as she was introduced to her visitors, she gave them a loud and long hello cry.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

oh man. The best part of these next two photos was when Mel unwrapped Maggie and her aunt gasped from the sight of her long little body and all that hair on her head.

I loved getting to know the fam. They were so great.

(P.S. The white blankets were given to us in the waiting room because it was FREEEZING — while this hospital had one of THE warmest staff I’ve ever encountered, the waiting room was not.)

I’ve mentioned this before, I am obsessed with little baby heads. I love their hair…their tiny little cowlicks… everything about a baby’s head gives me baby fever.

Funny or what? 🙂 Typical photog.

Photobucket

The nurse had this great idea to let Jack put lotion on Maggie. He loved it! It was a great way for them to start the bonding process. I had never see that before and we didn’t think to do that when our 2nd baby was born but I will be sure to pass on this tidbit to moms who are looking for ways for their kids to connect with the new baby.

Melissa, Scott, Jack and Maggie,

Thank you for having me. I loved getting to know your family in a new and different way.  Lots of love!

Congratulations!
