For me, this Christmas season has never been sweeter. I’m loving the fact that Roman can experience and enjoy the holiday in fun new ways!
Setting up the tree was especially fun this year.
Photobucket
Roman definitely thinks that we’ve put the tree out as something just for him to play with but we don’t mind. He likes to ‘match’ all of the ornaments by pairing them together. ๐Ÿ™‚

Decorating the house with Roman’s school projects have added a whimsical feeling to our house for the holidays. The ‘front door decorations’ started the week after Thanksgiving…
Photobucket
…and has quickly grown over the weeks.

This was also the first year that I got to enjoy making a gingerbread house with Roman. He absolutely loved every messy minute of it.

Strawberry flavored icing, while disgusting to 30 year olds, is a big hit with the younger crowd.

A few starbursts, tic-tacs, and foil-wrapped candies make our design even more personalized. ๐Ÿ™‚

…And finally, what’s Christmas without a little snow?

This kid’s cheeks were strikingly red once we were able to finally drag him inside!

Having had so much fun this month, it makes me really ready for the next couple of days. I look forward to the joyous times that lie ahead. I’ve hope you’ve taken time to actually enjoy this holiday season too!

My sweet, sweet little one.

Photobucket

At only 3 months old, he’s already had to endure so much from me and my camera. Luckily, he has a laid back personality and goes with the flow regardless of what kind of crazy antics I will put him through for a photo.
Although, he looks a little unsure right here. ๐Ÿ™‚

Alongside of a 365 day photo project I’ve got going, I also try to make sure that every month I set aside a photo session for baby Milo. I’m excited to see how each month of growth unfolds once we reach August and (sniff, sniff) he’s quickly turned a year old.

Milo’s “4 month birthdate” is right around the corner. I’ve already got some ideas concerning some twinkling Christmas lights. Let’s hope I can pull it off!

While they are all great, The first picture is my favorite!!! STOP GROWING MILO!ReplyCancel

As it seems to happen to most moms, the initial purchase of your first ‘nice camera’ is to photograph your kids.

Photobucket

…Then a friend asks you to take pictures of her kids. Next thing you know a couple needs engagement photos. All of the sudden, a birthday party is happening and “would you mind just snapping a few photos?” You start getting requests like: “We’d love it if you would take our Christmas picture.” “The weather has been so nice lately, can you take our family photos?” and “Can you do a last minute wedding?”

Photobucket

Not to say I fell into this.

I totally welcomed (if not longed) for these jobs. I pursued this profession with persistence, sacrifice, and passion.

As I continue on this journey, I’ve had wonderful experiences of seeing babies being born, beautiful couples devoting their lives to each other, exponential love abounding from families during their photo sessions.

Of course, I am grateful for every photo experience. If you follow and read my blog entries, you know it’s not just a photo job for me. I love investing in every face I capture with the lens. If I can get to know the person for more than just “a client”, I feel like I’ve captured their spirit along with their face in the photo.

Photobucket

No longer are there last minute gigs. Nursing a newborn and raising a two year old don’t attend to that kind of ‘last minute’ photography. It was amazing enough when I was pregnant, raising a two year old, and shooting weddings on the same day that I would also do hair. I look back and sometimes wonder how I managed it all in the first place. (answer – my phenomenal husband)

I say all this because I am burnt out.

Plain and simple. I just need a break and it’s not anyone’s fault but my own. I just finally hit a wall.

Fortunately, I’ve got that break coming up. This is the time of year that is molasses slow for a photographer. Everyone’s holiday and fall photos are taken, it’s miserable outside and we’re just all hibernating and thinking warm springtime thoughts for those wonderful weddings and beautiful families to be photographed after winter.

So this all started because I wanted to give reason to why I haven’t posted in 15 days, or why this particular post is filled with fall photos of Roman.   The first part of the answer is because I was burnt out, the second is…Well… it’s because I love taking pictures.

Photobucket

Sometimes I get so busy, so overwhelmed, so stressed out that I forget that fact…and I forget what drove me to ‘buy a better camera’ in the first place.

My beautiful boy.

Love you Roman.

This was one of the best days ever. It was one of those unseasonably warm November days where I just had to take this little guy out and do a photo-playdate. He hadn’t been getting enough one-on-one Mommy time and this day ended up being perfect for me, Roman, and my camera.

Photobucket

There is this A-W-E-S-O-M-E field near my house. In a few short months the field will be gone and new houses will be built there. I drive by it nearly every day just WISHING I could take a lovely family out there for a photo opportunity. So that was our destination in our ‘photo walk’. After a few “rock tosses” over, we even snuck through the barbed wire just to get a few more great shots.

Photobucket

I had so much fun knowing that for this moment I was capturing innocence I will never get back. I was freezing in time his tiny little hands and that beautiful smile. I was getting refreshed. So, lovely readers, on one hand I apologize because the next couple of posts are going to be all about me, my little world and my family.

Photobucket

But on the other hand, I wouldn’t be able to give you awesome images of weddings, births, family photos and so much more without them, would I? ๐Ÿ™‚
Thanks for listening to my heart. I wouldn’t be here without faithful readers. Can’t wait to hear what you think by reading your Faceookemail , and blog comments below.
