Donna Harris Photography bio picture

May is a busy month both personally and professionally. This particular May we went on a Florida vacation to celebrate our wedding anniversary and also to take one last trip (just the two of us-no kids!) before baby #2 arrives!

We arrived in Florida Mother’s day weekend, so I missed my son a bit but he sent a Mother’s Day Card with his daddy to cheer me up while I was relaxing on the beach!

These guys got a kick out of Christopher’s first time in the water. How do I put this delicately? As a woman, I guess I don’t understand how sensitive cold water can be at certain points below the waist. However, they sure got a good chuckle over the situation!

Once he was comfortable, he liked to scare the crap out of me by going way, way, far out into the ocean. ๐Ÿ™‚

My baby bump starting to show!

We are huge “We’re on vacation so let’s eat WHATEVER we want” types.
That’s pretty much what we did when we weren’t on the beach. One restaurant even served a tiny campfire so we could have authentic s’mores for dessert!

Since our Florida trip was also kind of a “Babymoon” we decided to do a mini-photo session on the beach. We clean up nice, dontcha think?

When we arrived home, I got these flowers for my anniversary.

And, I know it’s sounds SOOO romantic but I also got this great task chair! Before I had this comfortable chair, I really did feel like editing photos was back-breaking work!

I am so thankful for this chair! I literally had 4 weddings and 3 photo sessions to attend to the minute I got back. Check back soon for previews from these awesome sessions!

What great photos! looks like you had a great time. Where in Florida did you go? Would love to plan a trip with my hubby and this place looks very relaxing and the smores look delish.ReplyCancel

Gosh, I love you guys!

You are all AWESOME clients! My summer appointment book is basically full with appointments in preparation for my maternity leave. I love how this helps me out as much as it helps you. Of course, I’m big on communication, so don’t hesitate or assume that if you didn’t get your preferred appointment that you still can’t. I can’t promise anything but I’d rather TRY than have you feel like you are left to other options.

It’s coming to that time in my pregnancy where I’m anticipating all the little things which is fun and exciting (and scary) all at once. I am consistently overwhelmed by the support and care that you all show me. ๐Ÿ™‚ And I’m just now starting to get excited about this little nameless baby that’s consistenly kicking me now. If you know me at all, you know I can’t even wrap my mind around this kid until he becomes more ‘real’ to me so I don’t even see a point in thinking of names until I feel that point. Well, when you look at the size of my belly, there’s no denying it’s REAL!

Photobucket

I just hope you don’t mind a little “belly nudge” from me during your hair appointment. Sometimes I underestimate how far out this thing is getting. Hee Hee!

Tornado warnings plus rain, rain, and MORE rain.

This didn’t stop Cory and Liz from getting great pictures on their wedding day! ๐Ÿ™‚

Photobucket

Because I was the second shooter for this wedding with Kelly Manno, I was able to get this great shot of Liz and her dad as she walking down the aisle through the chapel doors.

And of course, the rain would tease us with bits of sunlight here and there. So I took advantage of it with beautiful backlighting.

Both Stephanie and Randall disclosed to me this was their first time having their pictures professionally taken! Portrait virgins! I think they did an excellent job.

So, if you’re my friend on Facebook, you may have read one of my status updates that said: “I’m going to throw up, photograph my first wedding, and then pass out.” LOL

Well, I survived! (That was my next status update.) …And with all kinds of obstacles before me. No, we didn’t have rain. And no, the bride wasn’t a Bridezilla. She was a complete doll!

But I AM five 1/2 months pregnant and worried I wouldn’t do well on my feet all day, AND we had a severe time crunch for photos between ceremony and reception, ALSO I was overwhelmed by the idea of TWENTY people in the wedding party, PLUS that day we found out that the location we chose to shoot at was having a Festival so we were going to have to find somewhere else!

Luckily, everything turned out perfect, just like the beautiful bride, Kayla.

Photobucket

I couldn’t have done it without my 2nd shooter Cara, who took this photo of Afif. She was a superstar that day. ๐Ÿ™‚

Kayla and Afif you are adorable. I loved being part of your day! Thank you for the opportunity! ๐Ÿ™‚

Also, I have to say thank you to the Love of my Life, Christopher. He was my assistant, time-watcher, back-up photographer, and support for the day and so many more wonderful things in my everyday life. Love you.
