Last Saturday, I had the fantastic opportunity to second shoot with Becker. Honestly, words cannot express how fortunate I felt to be alongside such a talented photographer. While Google will tell you that Becker is “an internationally acclaimed wedding photographer from California and co-founder of The [ b ] School“,  he’s much more than that. He is also a passionate person. When it comes to anything in his life… photography, sports, traveling, poker, family, business…oh, and bacon. You can’t forget bacon. 🙂

I enjoyed being in his presence even for a short while and was so appreciative of his good natured sprit, his willing attitude to share his knowledge, and his smart sense of humor. Thanks, [ b ] for having me along for the day!

Please enjoy these images I captured as I learned alongside the international photography superstar himself.

Gary and Brooke’s fairy tale wedding came ready with a fantasy horse and carriage and a castle-like church, St. Francis Xavier.

Brooke spent her morning at the church writing a love letter to her groom and sending it to him along with a gift.  After tying the knot, they traveled to all the popular St. Louis spots but especially Busch Stadium which holds a special place in Brooke’s heart as a former Team Fredbird Member. While on the field, she and her bridesmaids even did a “t-shirt sling toss” with a bouquet into the stands.

The evening’s destination at the Ameristar Casino made for a uniquely fun reception equipped with a candy bar, entertaining toasts from family and friends, and  -as partying ensued – White Castles (of course!).

This summer has been one of my favorite ones so far. We didn’t go anywhere spectacular. We didn’t have any major things happen. We just lived. I hate to see the summer go. I love the heat, the sun, the long days.

I loved spending so much time with my kids.

This summer, we showed them St. Louis with our ‘stay-cation’. Their first time having a ‘fondue party and a sleepover’ in the hotel (check out those candy coated faces and the fun we had jumping on the beds!). This was their first trip up inside the arch. Our first time together at the City Museum. Roman’s first year of t-ball. Trips to the ice-cream shoppe. We went to a Cards game, Tower Grove Farmers Market, Soulard Farmers Market, played in the sprinklers, the sandbox, the park. We ate from food trucks. We went to the drive in. We went to VBS, festivals, carnivals and fairs.

This summer was the perfect summer. I hate to see it go. (Didn’t I already say that? Yes, I hate it that much.)

Can there be anything better than family photos that describe just who you are? Kelly captured our love and spirit for summer fun just perfectly.

While I hate to see the summer end. I get so excited for what next year’s summer months will bring. This post brings so many smiles to my face and I can’t wait to do so much more with my little guys as they get bigger.

So, goodbye summer, I’ll miss you dearly. But thank you, thank you for the memories.

See you next year!

Fall’s approaching! That means you’re sure to see a lots of family fall sessions in the next couple of weeks. But before that, I’m gonna share a few of my own photos this week.

First off, the kiddos are back to school! YAY!

Roman cheered and Milo cried.

Don’t worry, Milo has adjusted very well and now looks forward to playing with blocks and Play-dough. And Ro is loving his new room. He’s the big fish in the small pond this year as this will be his last year of little people school before he goes off to Kindergarten. (tear) He’s loving his ‘senior’ year of preschool. hee. hee.

And me? Well, I’m so glad they’re happy and doing well and BACK TO SCHOOL!

Don’t get me wrong. I LOOOOOOOVE summer. Love it. Love it love it love it.

I don’t hate the heat. Give me humidity and heat over a freezing chilly day. I love wearing next to nothing. Tank tops and shorts are such an easy ensemble. Once summer ends I actually have to get dressed. bleh. And the kiddos and I have had so much fun outdoors. The lazy days. The long days. The sunny days. I’ll miss the summer. But I’m also very glad to have the fall routine. And I’m glad to have a few extra days open during the day for photographing. Which means that I’ve got my mornings free again for my ‘in-studio newborn sessions’. Let your preggo friends know, I’m happy to book them.  🙂

And, speaking of summer, stay tuned for my post of our own family photos taken by the fabulous Kelly Manno coming up later this week!

Happy Monday!

I was fortunate to spend last Sunday afternoon with this family through an upside-down kinda crazy last minute situation… and what a fun experience that turned out to be!

Meeting Ashley and Brian’s baby boy was such a pleasure. Sam, with his perfect little head, super blonde hair, and piercing baby blues, has recently celebrated his first birthday.  And he was so pleasant and full of smiles for his parents and his Grandma Sue.

I loved meeting this family! Even when Sam’s shirt turned up missing during an outfit change, they were so ‘go-with-the-flow’ that my suggestion of Sam going topless didn’t phase them one bit.

It just goes to show you don’t need all kinds of props, the perfect outfit, or a session that’s planned for months with the perfect theme to make for good photos.

In fact, all you need… is love.

🙂

Every year, I wait until the last minute. I want to make something special for my kid’s birthday parties but time slips away. Somehow, still, I manage to pull off something that I think we are both happy with.

Enter, Elmo and Cookie Monster Cupcakes.

SUUUUPER easy! Eyes were marshmallows cut in half with a dot of black icing for the pupils….

And the mouth is a sawed-in-half-Oreo with the filling removed.

The final touches that make the difference between Cookie and Elmo (besides the blue and red icing) are Elmo’s peanut M&M nose and the extra effort to make Cookie’s stare a little googly-eyed.

Let’s face it, you’ve only got a few years before your kids tell you ‘that’s for babies’ or ‘I’m too old for that!’ I turned around, blinked, and Roman is four. I can totally see these words just forming on his tongue. So, before I let go of Milo’s baby stage, I figure we could celebrate a toddler classic, Elmo and Cookie, for his birthday.

While this was just a small part of his party, I think the cupcakes were a hit! Milo loved them and was very excited. Until it was time to sing Happy Birthday and then he became grumpy pants. (anyone else’s kids do this?!)

But once the attention was over and the focus was back on snacking, Milo was happy to pick out an Elmo all his own….

Happy Camper!

I cannot believe he’s two. My sweet, sweet boy who loves trains, small board books, following around his big brother, his blankie, his monkey and dog-dog, Curious George, and rhyming words as a way to tell a joke.

Life has never been so much fun. We are so blessed to have two years with this special little man.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Milo.

Your birthday party was just a small celebration compared to the joy of having you in our lives every single day.
