Isn’t she the cutest? Little Eva had me melting! Those eyes are amazing! I promise there was no special editing done to those peepers. ๐Ÿ™‚

Beqi and Bill wanted a chance to get some photos with their tattoos. I love opportunities like this. I realize that it’s another time I’ve recently mentioned tattoos in a post. I don’t have a single one. Maybe that’s why I’m intrigued by them. I definitely respect tattoos and love when people have deep meanings behind them.

You may remember about a year ago I posted a story of a bride getting married on Memorial Day weekend. Well, this isn’t the same post but it’s the same family! Ashley graciously asked me to do her hair for her wedding and I was super excited to oblige!

Here’s the story. Amber got married on Memorial Day weekend last year and a few weeks later her sister, Ashley, got engaged (What a smart man to wait until after the wedding for each girl to get their day of glory!). And a few DAYS later she asked me to do her hair… almost a year in advance! Well, I was super excited to do her hair but I also had booked a wedding to photograph the Friday night before AND that very day…on top of being 6 1/2 months pregnant! (What was I thinking?) But I love this family and wouldn’t have wanted to miss being part of the day in some fashion so I was happy to be there for sure!

So, enjoy a few step-by-step photos of her updo….

Ta-Da! Ready to walk down the asile.

One of my favorite photos. These are all the girls that were in the wedding party who also come to me get their hair done. I love them all!

With a stunning bride and a handsome groom, how can you go wrong with wedding photos? It didn’t even matter that the forcast was all about rain.

Shannon was a magnificent bride! Rain or shine, she went with the flow no matter what the day brought our way.

Antonios (or Tony) was the Greek influence on this wedding day (with a name like that you’re thinking… no kidding!). His family was exactly what you’d expect from a heritage rooted in such tradition and culture. They were warm, friendly, lively, fun and full of life!

I love this backlit shot of Shannon walking down the asile.

With this being a Greek Ceremony, there was so many more interesting parts of the ceremony that symbolized their union: The Crowns, The Candles, The Common Cup, and the Ceremonial Walk around the table.

We had a lot of fun at Forest Park. Shannon even threw a little “Mary Katherine Gallager” in there. ๐Ÿ™‚

Yes, there was the formal ‘first dance’ you see at most weddings… but….

There was also the traditional Greek dance, Kaslamantiano. This dance is performed in a circle that gets larger and larger with party guests! It was so much fun to watch!

Tony and Shannon you are the perfect Barbie and Ken couple! Congrats to you!

A big, big thank you to Sheri and Beth for tagging along with me. You were awesome second shooters and made my day a breeze!

Nate and Sara were married at a cool vineyard in Washington, Missouri. This made for awesome outdoor photographs!

I was second shooter for this wedding with Cindy Lee and was so glad she decided to have me along. It’s great to capture more candid moments when you aren’t the main photographer.

Instead of a unity candle they opted for an interesting ‘ribbon binding’ as part of their ceremony. Very cool!

I absolutely loved everything about Sara’s sense of style. Her dress, her birdcage veil, the touch of blue in her flower arrangements… it was all very vintage and elegant. I also loved her tattoo and couldn’t wait to get a great shot of it!

Nate and Sara were the sweetest couple!
And thanks again for letting me shoot with you, Cindy!

Great job Donna! Love all the candid moments you captured…and I agree…great styling from the bride.ReplyCancel

Let’s face it. Most weddings can be pretty darn boring. We all know what to expect & when to expect it. Yes, it’s beautiful for the bride and groom but all the ‘standard rules apply’.

I love it when couples break those rules.

First off, Garry and Tequila are already married. They had their official ceremony months ago. This was a chance to relish in their marrige and allow others to celebrate with them.

Secondly, the day ran unlike any other wedding that I’ve ever been to. The ceremony was supposed to begin at 4:00pm but didn’t start until much later. Not because of any disaster, just because people were busy socializing and it was a laid back affair. The thing I think I loved the most about this was that even though the feeling of the day was laid back, the bride, groom and the rest of the wedding party were as formal as you could get for an outdoor wedding. They looked smashing!

One thing that remained the same was the obvious love for each other. Their ceremony was very touching.

These were the ‘praise dancers’. Another very unique and beautiful part of their ceremony.

Garry and Tequila’s daughter has got THE most beautiful face! Look at those eyes!

Just a shot of the guests that decided to also make their way to the other side of the gazebo and capture memories and/or get a better look at the bride and groom. ๐Ÿ™‚

And finally, the reception DID have your standard, cutting the cake, first dances and bouquet and garter toss… but this was the MOST FUN dollar dance that I have ever witnessed! What a treat to be part of this fun day!

Congratulations Garry and Tequila! Your wedding day was a fantastic experience.

And thanks to Beth Fisher for all your help that day, you were a super second shooter!
