Rosalie has been born into one of the best families. ever.

She’s got 3 wonderful brothers and an adoring big sister. Being the baby in this family is going to be so much fun!

Look at this gorgeous momma! She is one of the best moms out there. Patient, kind, and able to keep her cool and sense of humor through the craziness that 5 kids will bring.

Five kids will make life crazy, for sure. But let’s not forget the love, the friendship, and the warmth a full house will bring.

All that love starts with great parents, like these two.

Ok, so, how’s this for typical?

The three big siblings ready, willing and excited to hold their baby sister…..

…while the baby of the family, (who’s no longer the baby), just wants to play superhero!

Red lips, fair skin, and a massive amount of hair are only a few good reasons to call this baby gorgeous!

Welcome home, Rosalie! A full house of love awaits you!

Every photographer expresses their excitement for an upcoming engaged couple’s wedding. I have no doubt we are all genuinely excited for every couple we get to photograph.

But, man oh man, I CANNOT express how much I’m looking forward to this couple’s wedding day!

I know Michael from high school. Since we are several grade levels apart, I’ve just recently gotten to know him better through Facebook and during a crazy campout for some free controversial chicken.

And Liberty…. well, Liberty and I met just minutes before taking their photos. She is a joy to encounter. I feel like it is so easy to capture her spirit, her general happiness toward life, and her love for her soon-to-be hubby. And THAT’S why I am so so so looking forward to being part of their wedding day. I feel totally confident it will be a true, joyous occasion.

So, check out these two smitten kittens and look forward to their October wedding.   …I know I will. 🙂

Sometimes the lines between my worlds get blurred. (Ok, A LOT of the times this happens.)  Photography clients become friends, friends become clients, photography friends become salon clients, and salon clients get photographed…etc, etc.

In this case, Sara, (a long time salon client and friend) has given me the chance to capture her sweet little family.

At our hair appointments, I often get to hear about Mia. We talk about the cute things she’s doing, what milestones she’s crossing, and compare and contrast her life of as two-year-old next to my own ‘soon-to -be-two-year-old’. I’ve seen pictures of her on Facebook, I’ve learned about her personality, and I feel like I know her when I’ve never met her.

Until now!!

Now that we’ve met, here are some confirmed facts from our our session:

Yes, Mia really does have captivating eyes.

Yes, Bert and Sara make parenthood look good.

Yes, they love, love, love, their daughter.

And she really is as adorable as the stories I’ve heard.

Oh Miss Mia,

You definitely made me earn your smiles! So many toys and tricks that I (literally) pulled out of my bag:  jumping like a froggie, walking like a monkey, tickle surprises, and even a bribe or two… but they were worth it.

And we had fun, didn’t we?

Happy 2nd Birthday, sweet girl!

“Do you still do hair?”

I get that question quite a bit and the answer is “Heck yes!” I’m in the salon every week and I love it. But “Hairstylist Donna” is a crappy crappy photographer. First off, I am too focused on my clients to even think about taking photos AND all I have at my disposal in terms of a camera is my horrible old camera phone. But, even so, I thought I’d snap a few pics throughout my day to show you my other passion, albeit very unglamorous, and the love I have for my clients.

{P.S. This is certainly not an ‘advertisement’ …please don’t think I’m looking to acquire salon clients. This is just a pretty significant part of my life and wanted to share one of my favorite days of my week: The day I work at the salon. }

Here we go!

Schedule, Consult, Formulate, Color, Shampoo, Cut, Style, Dry, Sweep and REPEAT.

The day is long, strenuous, and backbreaking. But it’s also fulfilling. I get to meet lovely people. Become their friends. Learn about their lives. Keep up with their joys and sorrows. And make them feel beautiful.

And on this particular day I happened to have two photography peers in my chair! I love how the areas of my life start to all blur together.

Life, for me, would not be as fulfilling without my camera and my scissors.

And when I get to give a little of my hair knowledge and get a little photo friendship outta the deal it’s all golden, baby.
